In most parts of the world, Greece is associated with fantastic weather. And rightly so! Winters, albeit somewhat wet, are quite mild and short, whilst summers are warm, with clear blue skies and little, if any, rain. However, as you'd expect, there is considerable variation in the weather, depending, inter alia, on latitude, elevation and distance from the sea.
To help you better plan your trip, we have put together information on the weather of Kos. The associated data are conveniently presented in tables and graphs, showing average, highest, and lowest recorded temperatures, number of rainy days, number of days hotter that 32^oC, etc.
All the data presented on this page have been obtained from the Weatherbase and have been processed using Microsoft Excel.

Average Temperatures

As you can see from the graph below, temperatures follow smooth sinusoidal curves, with minima in January and maxima in July and August.
The average temperature curve is conveniently situated 2^oC to 3^oC below the average high temperature curve and 2^oC to 3^oC above the average low temperature curve. The mean annual temperature for Kos is approximately 17.8^oC.

Highest & Lowest Recorded Temperatures

And, of course, there are always extremes! The lowest temperature, -2.2^oC, has been recorded in February, whereas the highest, 38.9^oC, has been recorded in July. It is noteworthy that the difference between each month's highest and lowest temperature is in the vicinity of 20^oC.

Days With Rain - Days Above 32^oC

According to the graph below, it rains almost incessantly between November and February, then the number of rainy days decreases gradually till July and August, which are the driest months, with no rain at all. September is slightly wetter, but the wet season really begins again in October.
Note, however, that the Weatherbase precipitation data for Kos are not all that reliable, inasmuch they have been collected over a very short period of time, viz. 3 years, and may, therefore, be biased. Indeed, the past few years have been exceptionally wet for Greek standards.
If you visit Kos during the summer, you can expect some very hot days. Temperatures above 32^oC are not uncommon, as they appear during a quarter of July and August.

Average Wind Speed

As can be seen by the data below, wind speed is quite constant throughout the year, ranging between 17.6 and 20.8 km/h, or 3 - 4 on the Beaufort scale.
Unfortunately, we were unable to find data on wind directions and were, as a result, unable to construct wind roses, which provide a lot more meaningful information.
