Kos, the island Hippocrates, father of medicine, is one of the major Greek islands connected via direct air transport to many European major cities. Located in the southeast Aegean islandic complex of Dodecanese, very close to the Turkish coast, Kos features monuments of enormous historical interest, beautiful weather virtually all year round, sandy beaches accompanied by crystal clear water and a significant tourism infrastructure hosting approximately 800.000 tourists annually (over 30% of them being British). The best sandy stretches of Kos' 290 km coastline lie in the south.
Kardamena is a seaside village located on the south coast of Kos, 27 km from Kos Town and only 7 km from the island's "Hippocrates" international airport, featuring beautiful sandy beaches with clear blue waters, ideal for sunbathing, swimming and water sports activities; also famed for intense nightlife during the tourist season. Full tourist services are available.
